Monday - Oct. 28, 2024 - High-profiles writers come to the valley

🌧 High #C

Good morning!

My kids have woken me in a lot of different ways over the past decade. They’ve jumped on me, prodded me, screamed at me, and tickled me. They’ve yelled about breakfast, school, each other, their parents, the TV, the pets, the location of various foodstuffs, and the weather. They’ve slammed doors, cried about missing toys, and announced various biological processes to have occurred. But this morning was the first time they woke me with magic.

There was no ‘Good morning, Dad,’ or whispered ‘Are you awake?’ Instead, it was straight to “Want to see this card trick?!” My daughter had begun doing card tricks the previous day. And she’s already surprisingly good at her newest passion. Though I’m not betting (or hoping) that she sticks with it. It’s amazing to see her bake, perform magic, or twirl like a dancer. But one hopes that, at some point, she’ll come across something she develops a love of something with more economic upside. But then again, her dad is a reporter.
