Good morning!
A year or so ago, my kid started playing Minecraft on our family Nintendo Switch. His screen time is heavily limited, though, so he has been getting his video game fix in book form, through an “unofficial Minecraft-fan adventure series.” These books are seemingly about Minecraft characters, and I can’t imagine history will look all too kindly upon their quality. These aren’t going to be the next Chronicles of Narnia. And yet, who am I to judge? When I was my kid’s age, I devoured Hardy Boys paperbacks. Years later, I revisited them. It was pretty obvious just how the Franklin W. Dixon team of ghostwriters could crank out a new book every month. And yet the series still did have a lasting impact on my life. After all, how else would I have known what a “jalopy” is?

Your 2025 Election Hub

Canadians don’t vote for a party or a leader. A federal election is actually 300-plus different elections in which Canadians choose a local representative in Parliament.
In the Fraser Valley, candidates have until early April to submit papers to run in the coming election. But we already have the names of many of the candidates.
Today, we’re rolling out our valley-wide Election Hub, along with individual pages for each riding. Each page has the names of local candidates, riding details, voting information, and more. As the campaign continues, we will be updating them to include links to party platforms, news stories, all-candidates meetings, and anything else we think readers might find useful.
You can find individual hubs below.

Cannabis-growing facility put up for sale for $4.5 million
A large Hope-area cannabis production plant has been listed for sale for $4.5 million. The 47,00-square-foot facility was built nine years ago and operated by Canna Farms until the company was bought by competitor MediPharm Labs in 2023. Last year, Medipharm president Keith Strachan told cannabis news website StratCann that it was ending production at the Hope site and consolidating operations in Ontario.
Although the Hope plant was relatively large, it still couldn't produce enough pot to compete with larger growers. The final crop was planted at the facility in 2024.
The Hope plant has now been listed for sale, with an ad touting it as an "exceptional opportunity for a cannabis operator to seamlessly enter the market and commence cultivation." The facility sits on 3.8 acres of land squeezed between the Fraser River and Highway 1. It comes with two Health Canada licences that allow for the cultivation of cannabis for medical uses.
