💔 The Fraser Health region recorded the highest number of intimate partner violence deaths in BC between 2016 and 2024, with 44 fatalities — more than any other health authority in the province. [Abbotsford News]

🏫 UFV is hosting Canada's first-ever symposium on non-fatal strangulation from May 13 to 15, bringing together researchers, police, health workers, and policymakers. [UFV]

⚰️ Pacific Institution in Abbotsford recorded eight deaths in 2025 — the most of any single correctional facility in BC — as part of a provincial total of 22 incarcerated deaths. [Abbotsford News]

Abbotsford Farm & Country Market: Abbotsford's longest-running farmers' market opens for the season on May 2 at Jubilee Park, running every Saturday through October 31.

Free Lawn Bowling in Chilliwack: HIM and the Chilliwack Lawn Bowling Club offer free lawn bowling sessions every first and third Tuesday of the month from May to September at the Chilliwack Lawn Bowling Club, with coaches on hand and free coffee and snacks afterward.
