Two days, two very different ways to celebrate Latin American culture in the Fraser Valley. Saturday night, WINGS Abbotsford is hosting a Latin dance party with live singers and a DJ. Then on Sunday, Carnavalito on the Road takes over Douglas Park in Langley for a free eight-hour festival of music, dance, food, and family activities.

Douglas Park in Langley gets a lot of use on weekends, but September 6 will look a little different. Carnavalito on the Road — a free outdoor celebration of Latin American culture — takes over the park from noon to 8:30 PM, bringing more than 60 artists and 40 vendors with it.

The event is organized by Latincouver, a B.C.-based non-profit dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and supporting Latin Americans building lives in the province. Carnavalito on the Road is a travelling offshoot of Latincouver's annual Carnaval del Sol, designed to take the celebration into communities beyond Vancouver.

Performances at the Main Plaza span folkloric dance representing Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia, salsa, Brazilian funk, and an energizing Zumba class open to all. The lineup brings together both local and international Latin American artists.

The fifth annual stɑl’əw̓ Pow Wow returns to Langley Events Centre, inviting people of all ages to experience Indigenous culture through singing, dancing, drumming, food, art and community. One-day passes are $10; three-day passes are $20, with free admission for children five and under and Elders.
