Good morning,
This Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day — a day to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
The date falls on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, which has held deep cultural and spiritual significance for many Indigenous communities for generations. There are celebrations happening across the Fraser Valley this week, including events in Hope on Friday and Langley on Sunday.

Langley City's Community Day drew thousands — and teased something new for winter
Thousands of residents turned out to Douglas Park on Saturday for Langley City's annual Community Day, with live entertainment, family activities, and local organizations filling the park for a free drop-in afternoon.
Beyond the zipline and inflatables, one booth was generating some early buzz: a preview of the Langley Christmas Village, a new winter market coming to Langley City later this year.
The market is being produced by Parfait Productions, the team behind the Shipyards Christmas Market in North Vancouver, and will run from late November through December 24. It will feature more than 100 vendor stalls, free entry, daily entertainment, and family-friendly programming.
"Langley Christmas Village is being built as a free, family-friendly holiday experience that brings people together, supports local entrepreneurs, and celebrates the spirit of the season," said John van Rij, founder of Parfait Productions.
