Good morning!

February is Black History Month in Canada, a time to celebrate and honour the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black Canadians throughout history.

We’ve put together a list of events happening in the Fraser Valley, but I need to ask for your help with this one! Nearly all of the events on our list are taking place in Surrey—so, if you know of an event taking place in your community, whether that’s in Surrey or elsewhere, please let me know šŸ™‚

The Agenda

BRGR BRGR celebrates its birthday with a Burger Throwdown in Abbotsford

Abbotsford favourite BRGR BRGR is marking another year in business the way it knows best—with burgers, beer, and a little friendly competition.

On Sunday, February 15, the local burger spot is hosting its Birthday BRGR Throwdown, a one-day event that invites guests to eat, drink, and vote for their favourite creations as the kitchen rolls out four exclusive burgers made just for the occasion.

Tickets are $40, and they come with plenty of value: access to all four limited-edition burgers, beer pairings, and a vote in the birthday battle for ultimate bragging rights. The event runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., giving guests plenty of time to pace themselves and soak up the celebratory atmosphere.

Known for bold flavours, playful branding, and a loyal local following, BRGR BRGR has become a go-to spot in Abbotsford’s food scene. The birthday throwdown feels less like a formal tasting and more like a party—big burgers, good beer, and an excuse to celebrate with the community that’s kept the place busy for years.

If you’re a BRGR BRGR regular—or just looking for a solid excuse to eat very well on a Sunday—this one’s built to deliver.

Community journalism needs the entire community for it to succeed.
