Black History Month events happening in the Fraser Valley 2026

Events across Abbotsford and Surrey honour Black history and celebrate community throughout February

February is Black History Month, and this year's national theme is "30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow's Visionaries."

From cultural celebrations featuring traditional African dance and drumming to panel discussions with local Black leaders, February offers a chance to learn about Black history in BC and connect with vibrant Black communities.

Hear from scholars, artists, and community advocates, and explore exhibitions that highlight both historical pioneers and contemporary Black excellence throughout the month.
