It’s finally here: sweater weather, pumpkins and pumpkin-inspired beverages, cooler days, and longer nights. Of course, October isn’t just the time when leaves change colour and start falling, it’s also the start of the Halloween season, which has grown from a one-day event to a month-long celebration of all things spooky and fun. Here are some ideas to make the most of October in the Fraser Valley!
Trick or Treat in Abbotsford
On Oct. 25, you can head to the Clayburn Village Church for the Halloween Carnival. Dress in your best spooky outfit, decorate pumpkins, and pick up treats.
Downtown Abbotsford’s family-friendly Treat Trail is the best place to collect treats in the city, where there will be free candy, photo booths, and more from 1 pm to 4 pm on Oct. 31. The trail starts at Unit A, 33765 Essendene Avenue.
Costume party in Chilliwack
On Oct. 25, Chilliwack Cultural Centre is hosting a 16+ Halloween costume party, which is not for the faint of heart. Featuring a cabaret performance by the Valley Babes, dancing, and a costume contest, this is an opportunity to fully embrace the Halloween spirit and unleash your spooky side.
For more family-friendly spooky entertainment, take the whole family and head over to Petey’s Pumpkin Patch at Fantasy Farms, where you can pick and carve pumpkins. If you stay until after dark, there are spine-chilling activities like the Reaper’s Maze of Terror to keep you on your toes.
Spooky Langley
Langley City residents are spoiled for choice when it comes to spooky season events. From pumpkin patches to haunted houses, there’s something for everyone.
The Eagle Acres pumpkin patch and corn maze are popular attractions.
For some truly spine-chilling, hair-raising entertainment, the Dread Worlds Realm of Horror Haunted House promises a 60-minute immersive horror experience guaranteed that may give you nightmares for days on end.
Rocky Horror Show in Mission
The classic, 1970s musical, The Rocky Horror Show, is coming to Mission on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 8 pm. Grab your tickets before they sell out and make sure you dress up to fit the mood. Audiences are encouraged to fully embrace the vibe by wearing Rocky Horror-inspired outfits and participating in the show.
For more family-friendly fun, from 3-5 pm on Halloween night, children of all ages can go trick-or-treating in the historic Downtown Mission area and its side streets.
