A new restaurant appears to be on its way to downtown Chilliwack.
According to a recently launched Instagram account, Upriver Social House is preparing to open at 9254 Nowell Street, in the historic Patten House building near the heart of District 1881.
Built in 1912, the heritage property has been home to several well-known local hospitality businesses over the years, including the Patten House Restaurant, the Duke of Dublin pub, and, most recently, Society Gathering House.

The new restaurant describes itself as a "farm-to-table bistro & social house" focused on Fraser Valley ingredients, BC wines, and local craft beer. Instagram posts suggest the concept will offer lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, with a menu that changes alongside the region's harvest seasons.
"Every corner, every detail, every decision is being made with you in mind, Chilliwack," the business wrote post announcing the project.
Another post describes Upriver Social House as "Downtown Chilliwack's farm-to-table bistro and social house, proudly rooted in the Fraser Valley," adding that it aims to celebrate local farmers, producers, and makers by bringing seasonal ingredients directly to diners' tables.
The restaurant's branding leans heavily into its Fraser Valley roots, with messaging focused on local food, BC wine, and community gathering.
While an opening date has not yet been announced, the business is encouraging residents to follow its social media channels for updates.
The arrival of another independent restaurant would add to the growing collection of food-and-drink destinations that have helped transform downtown Chilliwack in recent years, while bringing new life to one of the city's most recognizable heritage buildings.
