Greendale Acres may still be best known as the Chilliwack farm that launched Canada’s first corn maze more than 25 years ago, but this summer, it has been giving visitors another reason to stick around: live music.

The farm has made a significant push into summer music programming this year, bringing local artists to its outdoor stages nearly every weekend and pairing the performances with the food, games, flowers, and farm activities that have become a big part of the Greendale Acres experience.

The next show comes this Saturday, Aug. 29, when Dave Faber + Trio take the stage from 4 to 7 p.m. as part of the farm’s Sundown Music Series.

The Saturday series has been designed as more than a concert. Visitors can grab something to eat or drink in the licensed outdoor gathering space, wander through the farm and flower fields, tackle the corn maze, and then settle in for live music as the sun starts to drop.

On a recent visit, we got a taste of just how much there is to do beyond the stage.

There’s the classic corn maze, of course, along with a hay bale maze and a collection of games for both kids and adults. The farm’s colourful flower fields are also open for U-pick, with visitors able to fill a mason jar with their own selection of flowers for $10.

And come hungry. We tried the roasted street corn, which comes with a number of different flavour options and is exactly the kind of food that makes sense when you’re eating it a few steps away from the fields.

The live music continues in a bigger way next weekend.

Greendale Acres’ Summer Send-Off runs Sept. 5 to 7, bringing three straight days of music to the farm alongside U-pick flowers, the corn maze, family activities, and its popular watermelon-eating competition.

Saturday’s lineup features Josh Petersen from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., The Rundown from 5 to 6:45 p.m., and the Tanner Olsen Band from 7:30 to 9 p.m. On Sunday, Kyler Pierce + Band perform from 4 to 7 p.m., followed Monday by Natalie Faith from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

It’s all part of a broader investment by Greendale Acres in making live music—and supporting local performers—a bigger part of summers on the farm.

And there’s more coming after the music-heavy stretch. Families can save Sept. 19 for Princess and Superhero Day, featuring visits from Rapunzel, Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen, with kids encouraged to arrive in costume.

For a farm that has spent decades finding new ways to bring people onto the land, the soundtrack is simply getting a little louder.
