THE ROLE
We're looking for curious, community-minded writers to join our contributor network. If you're plugged into life in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or the surrounding communities — and you want to turn that knowledge into great local journalism — we'd love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Reported news features on local issues, people, and organizations
Event previews and recaps — festivals, public meetings, arts, sports
Community-focused stories that don't make it into legacy media
Occasional Q&As, profiles, and explainers
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Based in the Fraser Valley — Abbotsford or Chilliwack strongly preferred
Strong writing skills and a commitment to accuracy; journalism experience is an asset
Good local contacts and genuine interest in your community
Ability to meet deadlines and communicate reliably
Comfortable pitching your own story ideas
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a per-piece freelance arrangement. We'll work with you on story ideas, provide editorial support, and compensate per published piece. There's flexibility on volume — we're open to contributors who want a regular beat as well as those available for occasional assignments.
