There’s a small town in Langley with a courthouse, a diner, a coffee shop, and a movie theatre with a glowing marquee. It has appeared in plenty of movies and TV shows, and it’s normally closed to the public. Once a year, though, the doors open and the whole place gets dressed up for Christmas.

That town is Martini Town, and this year’s Merry & Bright runs November 20 to December 31 with an expanded lineup, organizers say.

The star of the show is a 30-foot Christmas tree made entirely of stacked presents. Around it, expect redesigned holiday window displays, new festive installations along the streets, and a silent cinema tucked into the alley. Movie-inspired décor tips its hat to the Christmas films shot on site.

The courthouse steps turn into a stage for a rotating lineup of musical acts. Ebenezer Scrooge drops by on Friday evenings, and Santa’s Elf is on hand to help families get their holiday photos. The Green Christmas Grouch is back for the full season with his mischievous streak, and Santa himself is there every event day through December 23 before heading off to prepare for his big night. Film-style “snow” returns too, and a clear-roofed tent over Town Square keeps guests sheltered from the real weather.

Gift shopping happens in Market Lane, a heated, enclosed tent with about 20 vendors selling handmade goods and festive finds. For snacks, newcomers include Taco Nori, serving sushi tacos, and Mediterranean Grill, with wraps and fries. Texas Smoke BBQ, Hot Mini Donuts, Sticky’s Candy, and Bar Down Bakery are back. New this year, adults can wash it all down with beer and cider from Barnside Brewing and Fraser Valley Cider, or order mulled wine or spiked hot chocolate at The Martini Cafe.

Merry & Bright runs Friday through Sunday from November 20 to 29, Wednesday through Sunday from December 2 to 13, and daily from December 16 to 31, except December 25. Hours are 3 to 10 p.m., and tickets must be bought in advance online for a specific time slot.
