Good morning!

I helped my little sister move into her new apartment yesterday. It’s a long process but we made a dent in all the cleaning, organizing, and unpacking yesterday. (Did you know that washing machines need to be cleaned? I had no idea.)

Speaking of housekeeping, thanks to all the new Insider members who have joined over the last week. Your support is so helpful. Some of you have asked us for the ability to pay with PayPal. We have good news on that front and hopefully, by tomorrow, we'll have a PayPal option for you. Thanks for your interest and your patience!

The Agenda

Artist call to redesign Fort Langley banners

The Fort Langley Community Association wants local artists to redesign the neighbourhood’s street banners.

The association is holding a contest for established or emerging artists in the Langley Township for new banner designs. Submitted work will be judged on a set criteria. The top three designs may be submitted to Fort Langley residents for feedback.

The winning artist will be awarded $1,000 for use of their work. The deadline to submit designs is Oct. 1. Details about the contest can be found online.

Princess Avenue parking lot completed

A new parking lot on Princess Avenue in Chilliwack opened last month.

The lot includes 34 parking stalls and sits directly behind District 1881, where Nowell Street intersects with Princess Avenue. The new downtown shopping district is largely pedestrian-only and still under construction.

More parking in the downtown area will open this fall once construction is finished on a 41-spot parking lot off of Victoria Avenue. The roadway itself will also become a one-way, allowing parking along the street. A third parking lot (17 spots) is also a part of the construction on Victoria Avenue, and is scheduled to be finished next summer. All told, a total of 92 new parking spots will be added around District 1881 in the next year.
