'The world's nicest person'
A Current reader said a bottle depot employee was the nicest person on earth. So we called her up.
Christine is the nicest person in the world.
Don’t take our word for it, take the word of one of The Current’s readers.
Just before Thanksgiving, when we asked readers what—or who—they were thankful for, one reader singled out the “blonde lady at the Chilliwack Bottle Depot [who] has to be the world’s nicest person.”
So we had to meet Christine.
Christine is the Chilliwack bottle depot’s manager. It’s her sprawling job to ensure that the constant, unending stream of bottles, cans, batteries, motor oil and everything else the facility collects all end up in the right spot. To do that, she has to harness the collective energies of her co-workers and the public at large.
Christine (who didn’t want us to use her last name) has been working at the bottle depot for seven years this November. She manages the place, but she also gets her own hands dirty helping out with all the different jobs that keep material flowing in and out of the facility.
“I do a little bit of everything,” she says. “I load trucks, I run machinery here, I work up front with the customers on the weekends.”
