Aug. 31: Valley West Stampede comes to Langley over the September long weekend, from Saturday, Aug. 31 to Monday, Sept. 2. Gates open at 11am; rodeo starts at 2pm. Tickets online.

Aug. 29: Summer Nights in the Township hosts a free concert series each Thursday night in August. The final concert will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7pm at the Willoughby Community Park Amphitheatre, just off of 200 Street. Details online.

Aug. 30: Langley's Rock Step Swing Dance Society hosts a free outdoor swing dance and lesson on Friday, Aug. 30 at Douglas Park. The night starts off with a free dance lesson and continues into a social dance. No partner needed. Details online.

Aug. 31: Harrison hosts its 15th annual Bands on the Beach concert series on Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1. Musicians will perform on Harrison's beach stage throughout the afternoon and evening both days. Details online.

Sept. 4: Join retired forester Debora Soutar for a Cool Trees Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7pm. Meet at the Garrison Forest on the corner of Tamihi Way and Garrison Boulevard for a one hour stroll. The cost is $10, and everyone recieves a free gift from Minter Country Garden. Details online.

Ongoing: The Fraser Valley Conservancy is holding its Fall Native Plant Sale now until Sunday, Sept. 29. Buyers get an email explaining where to pick up their plants on Oct. 5 in Bradner. Details online.

Until Aug. 30: Discovery Ranch in Chilliwack is offering hour-long trail rides Monday through Saturday throughout the month of August. The trail rides go up to Elk Falls. Bookings and details available online.

Ongoing Mondays: The Chilliwack Trail Club hosts its 6-7-8 trail run every Monday. The group meets at 6pm at Sidekick Brewing, runs a 7pm return route along the Vedder trail, and finishes up with drinks until 8pm. Details on Instagram.

Ongoing Wednesdays: Instructor Jessica Hart will host free yoga lessons in Abbotsford’s Jubilee Park every Wednesday until Sept. 4. Bring your water bottle and yoga mat starting at 6pm. Register online.

Aug. 29: The Mennonite Heritage Museum hosts another Books and Borscht event on Thursday, Aug. 29. Mitchell Toews, author of Pinching Zwieback, Made-up Stories from the Darp, will begin his book talk at 1pm; lunch is at noon in the cafe. Call 604-758-5667 to register as seating is limited. Ongoing: The Fort Langley National Historic Site is hosting an exhibition on the contributions of Black British Columbians through history until Dec. 12. The exhibit, presented by the BC Black History Awareness Society and the Royal BC Museum, will include audio recordings and artwork. Details online.

Aug. 29: Sage & Solace in Langley is hosting a mark-making workshop on Thursday, Aug. 29, showing artists how to use natural foraged items to draw and paint. Ongoing: The Reach Gallery Museum is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Emerge initiative with a new exhibition that is open until March 8. The Emerge program helps Fraser Valley artists kickstart their careers. The exhibit will feature work from several Emerge alumni. Details online.
