Local out-of-control fires (southwest mainland BC)
Davis Lake fire
Discovered: June 3, 2023
Size: 20 hectares; July 7 (up from 6 hectares; July 6)
The human-caused fire is burning in very steep terrain, the BC Wildfire Service said. There are three helicopters and 24 firefighters working on the blaze. The Lost Creek Forest Service Road was closed as crews work in the areas.
Closest settlement: Approximately 3.5 km to the northern extent of Miracle Valley. It’s 18 km north of Abbotsford and 0.5 km north of Davis Lake.
