UFVâs South Asian Studies Institute was awarded the Heritage Defender Award last week at the Darpan Extraordinary Achievement Awards. The award recognized the organizationâs âwork in collecting, preserving, and providing access to South Asian heritage and history,â said Satwinder Bains, the director of SASI.
The Darpan Awards are presented each year and celebrate achievements of the South Asian community. SASI has a multi-year collaboration with the Royal BC Museum to create the Punjabi Canadian Legacy Project.
